Privacy Policy
Parkd is a social driving app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have. The short version: we collect what the features need, we don't sell your data, and you can delete everything from inside the app.
What we collect
- Account info — your Apple account identifier (via Sign in with Apple), the username you choose, and the email Apple shares (which may be a private relay address).
- Location during drives — precise GPS routes, distances, and speeds, recorded only while a drive is being tracked. This powers your drive history, stats, and maps.
- Motion & fitness activity — used on-device to detect when a drive starts and ends automatically.
- Car photos — photos you upload of your car, used to generate your AI car avatar.
- Spotify listening metadata — if you connect Spotify, the tracks playing during your drives (song title, artist, album art). We never see your Spotify password.
- Device push tokens — so we can send you notifications (friend requests, challenges).
- Social data — your friend connections, waves, crew challenges, and any drives or messages you choose to share.
How we use it
- To run the app: track and display your drives, build your stats and badges, generate your car avatar, and power social features like the feed and crew challenges.
- Your GPS route data is private to you. Friends see only the stats you make public (distance, duration, music) — never your route or location, unless you explicitly share a map (for example, posting a day map to the feed or turning on "Your Map" for your profile). Both are off unless you turn them on.
- Live speed (optional, off by default) — if you turn on "Show live speed," friends can see your current speed (a number in mph) while you're driving. Never your location. Turn it off any time in Garage.
- Convoys — if you join a convoy, the other members see your estimated time and distance remaining to the shared destination, computed on your device. Your actual location is never sent to them.
- We collect basic usage events (like which screens are used) to fix bugs and improve the app. This stays on our servers and is not shared or sold.
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Third parties
- Railway — hosts our servers and database.
- Google (Gemini) and OpenAI — process your car photos to generate your AI avatar. Photos are sent for generation only.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple for authentication and APNs for push notifications.
- Spotify — only if you connect it, to read what's currently playing.
Retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. This permanently deletes your account and all associated data — drives, GPS routes, photos, avatars, connections, and shared content — from our servers.
We keep your data only while your account exists. If you reported another user or were reported, the report record is retained for moderation purposes, with personal references removed when an account is deleted.
